Fishnets & Florals

After what feels like a long winter, Spring has finally sprung, which means freshening up the wardrobe and beginning to trade in jumpers and coats for something a bit lighter and more exciting.

It’s not always the easiest thing dressing for the new season. The weather is rarely predictable (particularly up North), so it’s good to have some more transitional pieces for those in-between days.

I picked up this lovely dress about a month ago while looking for something to wear for a night out, though I have since realised just how versatile it is.

It is long sleeved, which makes it perfect for breezier days, but the fabric is a light cotton which makes it light and airy for when the sun shines.

It also has a dropped waist, which I never really go for as they tend to make me look out of proportion being small, however, on this dress it is more graduated giving it a fuller, floatier skirt and more of a dolly kind of vibe. The only thing I’d say is it’s not great for is windy weather, which I quickly learned when I inadvertently flashed the majority of the toon the other day.

For some reason this frock really gave me Dolce and Gabbana vibes, maybe it was the rose embroidery detail, which I thought gave it a bit of a classically regal feel. To keep this transitional piece current, I added fishnets and a distressed denim jacket with rolled up sleeves to make it more grungey. It’s also great for adding a layer of warmth for those colder days.

Bottle blue loafers and a red ribbon choker were added to add a pop of colour for the new season and to keep in with the Italian chic side of the outfit.

The look is quite dark but I added little pops of colour in the accessories to match the embroidery as a gradual submersion back in to brighter hues, rather than charging full force in to bright colours as the weather is still changeable.  As for mid-spring, it would also look really cool with no tights and some mules or knotted pool sliders.

I don’t know about you but i’m super excited for the brighter weather, and can’t wait to wear brighter clothes and pretty shoes again, and to have a play around with the new seasons trends!
